ProEdge Construction, a specialist highways maintenance and civil engineering contractor, utilises a fleet of Bobcat compact equipment, including mini-excavators, a skid-steer loader and Bobcat attachments to carry out projects throughout the East Anglia region.
Their Bobcat fleet includes E10z, E17 and E26 mini-excavators and an S175 skid-steer loader, together with a number of attachments including a planer and a sweeper. All of the Bobcat equipment has been supplied and is supported by Peterborough-based RTC Plant Services Ltd (www.rtcplant.com), the Authorised Bobcat dealer for Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.
ProEdge Construction is a family run business experienced in carrying out all types of works for social housing providers, main contractors, private developers and private clients alike. With bases in both Upwell and Chatteris, ProEdge Construction provides a wide range of services right across East Anglia. Some examples of services regularly undertaken include Section 38 & 278 works, asphalt machine and hand lay, block paving, kerb laying, surface water drainage, fencing and so on.
Jon Sculthorpe, Managing Director of ProEdge Construction, said: “The Bobcat products are very popular with our workforce, who think they are strong machines and work well with attachments like grapples and hydraulic grabs. The Bobcat S175 provides even more versatility when working with the attachments including the planer and sweeper.
“Backed by the Bobcat equipment, our team is committed to providing a quality, reliable service, delivered in a safe and efficient manner. We strive for total customer satisfaction; being a smaller contractor allows us to offer a more personalised and cost effective service.”
E10z - Market Leader in the 1 tonne Market
With sales unabated and already well past 15,000 units in the 15 years since it was launched, the Bobcat E10z is the market leader in the 1 tonne machine class. The E10z has a maximum digging depth of 1.82 m and a transport weight without attachment of 1077 kg, ensuring the machine is easy to transport.
Jon Sculthorpe added: “The E10z excavator we have is particularly handy for a lot of the rear garden social housing works we conduct. By getting this surprisingly powerful piece of kit into gardens means it reduces manual handling, increases output and makes our team’s day that bit easier.”
The Bobcat E17 mini-excavator, with a canopy and rubber tracks has an operating weight of 1711 kg, a maximum digging depth of 2249 mm and maximum reach at ground level of 3871 mm. The cabbed E26 mini-excavator has an operating weight with a bucket of 2608 kg, a maximum digging depth of 2568 mm and maximum reach at ground level of 4413 mm
Jon Sculthorpe said: “Like the E10z, the E17 and E26 excavators are used daily on our sites. The E17 is a dependable workhorse, while we complete most of our small highway jobs with the E26, which has a good deal of power especially when using a breaker. The Bobcat hydraulic clamp attachment fitted to this machine gives it another dimension and the initial outlay was soon repaid as it just speeds things up.”
RTC - Authorised Bobcat Dealer
As well as the Bobcat range of machines and attachments such as those at ProEdge Construction, RTC also offers a full selection of genuine Bobcat accessories and parts to support both new and existing Bobcat customers in its area. This is backed up by a stock of both brand new and second hand Bobcat machines for sale. Customers like ProEdge Construction also benefit from RTC’s on-site service network, covering everything from emergency repairs to routine maintenance.
Jon Sculthorpe added: “We have a wide range of clients from different sectors and areas, across the public and private sectors. We work closely with all our clients to ensure full customer satisfaction. Our preference for the high performance of the Bobcat brand mirrors our commitment to providing a friendly and professional service. This is why the excellent service and advice provided by Dave Ellis and the team at RTC is all the more important.”
He continued: “We really do rate the skid-steer loader as our most versatile piece of kit and with the right attachments, it can work in tight areas and save time. On a recent block paving works in Letchworth & Welwyn Garden City our S175 (as always) paid us a dividend.
“The blocks were unloaded with the fork attachment and ferried into a tight site. The bucket on the S175 was used to take granular sub base in and out of the site. The bucket was also used to clear muck and load it on to lorries and, finally, once all the works were completed, the sweeper attachment left the car park clean and tidy.
“In addition, when we are machine lay surfacing, the skid-steer loader is always on site and can be relied on to feed the paver with the bucket attachment, scrape the surface to remove snots, plane tie in joints and again once all completed, the sweeper attachment makes light work of tidying up.”
